Last October the city of Poznan invited me to a workshop to promote a regional pastry. I wrote about it on this blog, and on my food blog when I tried making them at home. Last night, as I was looking for something else, I came across one of the news stories about the workshop. Check out the video about half way down.
For those of you who don’t read Polish, the article talks about the public desire for smaller rogali (sp?). As an item regulated by the European Union, the minimum size and quality of the ingredients, and where they can be made are all mandated by EU laws. It makes for a pricey pastry. An appeal has been made to Brussels to reduce the minimum size from 250 g to 150g.
