Blueberry vodka and apple pie flavored vodka – two new additions to my lineup.
Inspired by the housemade moonshines at Harvest in Oro Valley (one of my favorite restaurants) but lacking a still, I did what any Polish housewife would do and whipped up some infused vodkas.
I used these vodkas in mixed drinks a week after mixing up the tinctures, but I think they’ll make a great sipping liqueurs after sitting for a few months.
Having friends over? They will feel like honored guests when you pull out your homemade flavored vodkas to share. Other than the fact that you have to start at least a week in advance, these are so easy to make.
You’ll want to start saving jars with lids because once you try it, I’m sure you’ll be as passionate about this Polish pastime as I am. I own a book, the title of which translates to, The Big Book of Tinctures.
After following a few of the recipes, I felt quite confident winging it with these. I made small batches, but if the fruits are in season you might choose to multiply the recipe.
Just like the mixologists at Harvest, I added lemonade to my blueberry vodka, wonderfully refreshing! The apple pie vodka was mixed with ginger beer, a great combination of flavors! Give them a try; I’d love to hear what you think. 🙂
Na Zdrowie!
