I’ve mentioned previously that many US television shows are dubbed into Polish. The English audio is can still be heard, and a louder Polish audio is played over it. The downside of this is that all parts, male and female, are read by the same person, usually a man. There is no attempt to use different voices for different characters, as the actors reading audio books tend to do.

Oh, my God! They are still doing that? After getting irritated with dubbing in Germany and Spain… now I shall have to endure it in my old country of Poland??? Waaaa!

We're lucky that most American movies are left in English and shown with Polish subtitles. The one exception is cartoon movies. I guess if they didn't dub it, you'd have every parent reading the subtitle to their kids.

You call yourself lucky? I mean the way Poland is dubbing the American movies and series is pathetic! And it proves that Poland is such a poor country!
And please don't tell me they're doing that so that polish people will learn English ! That's a very flimsy excuse!

Anonymous – I consider myself fortunate that I (as a native English speaker) can understand most movies in Poland.
I don't know that I would feel that way if I were Polish.

I think it depends on what you are used to. I prefer Polish dubbing, when I can hear the original voices. In fact I don't hear the speaker. It is like I was translating the original soudtrack in my head. I hate the german dubbing which covers the original soudtrack.
Best regards.
