An empty bag is all that remains of this year’s Hungarian Chimney Cake. The Festival of Good Tastes is happening in Poznań this week. As Ed put it, it’s “good tastes” as in food and drink, not table manners. We had festival food and beer for dinner Thursday and Friday, but Saturday found us on the road to the Czech Republic.
There is lots of activity in the countryside and all kinds of farm equipment on the road this time of year. Interesting sights along the way include the impressive bridge near Wrocław, many cars with bikes strapped to them (sorry to say we are one one), and a less than impressive McDonald’s parking lot.
Come on, Micky D’s clean your parking lot! |
We’re staying in a little village that has a golf course. The hotel is made up of little casitas at the course. The practice facility is very nice with wifi that reaches to the putting green. Something for everyone. 🙂 The village is famous as the site of one of Napoleon’s victories. We found out when we arrived yesterday that the village was celebrating the anniversary of that victory complete with reenactment. Ed reminded me that Napoleon was an artillery man. The usual still of the driving range was interrupted for about 20 minutes will the cannon noise.
The festivities went on until the wee hours of the morning, with music and two firework displays right out side our window.
Today, we’re off to Vienna to meet up with our daughter, Lisa.

The bridge looks quite like one in Warsaw that I think is very beautiful.
