Ask me anything with 2 Polish food bloggers

May 14, 2020 by Lois Britton 4 Comments

For fans of Polish food blogs, I am writing just a quick post today to let you know that Anna from Polish Your Kitchen and I are teaming up for an “ask me anything” session, #ama. Maybe that should be #aua, ask us anything. LOL

Polish food blogs working desk

We thought it would be fun to do a joint project, and taking reader questions seems like a good place to start. We’re all spending a lot of time at home, on video chats, so why not?

Anna and I have a lot in common:

  • We both write Polish food blogs, but we’re coming at it from different perspectives. Anna has always eaten these foods and learned to prepare them from her late grandmother. She honors her dear grandmother’s memory by preparing these dishes for her family and sharing them with you. I didn’t have much experience with Polish food until I moved to Poland when my husband began working there. I was a new food blogger at the time and wanted to share all of the wonderful dishes I was learning with others.
  • We’ve both lived in Poland and the United States. Our husbands’ both had careers in the US military. Anna grew up in Poland and first came to the USA as an exchange student. She married an American military man, so she spent many years in the United States. Since her husband’s retirement, they’ve moved their Polish-American family to Poland. My husband worked in Poland for 5+ years as a civilian contractor with the Polish Air Force. An exciting adventure that followed his career as an F-1 6 pilot.
  • We’ve both self-published cookbooks. In both of our cases, the plan for self-publishing morphed as our projects progressed. Perhaps you have a manuscript written or in your head. We can tell you about our paths, so you can see how they might fit into your plans.

We’ll be sharing up a recipe while we’re chatting too. Hopefully, we can find the ingredients. Who knows? Perhaps this video chat will grow into something more.

This is what we’re asking of you. Submit a question or a topic on which you’d like us to expand. While Anna and I have been acquainted for a few years, our conversations have always been by Facebook messenger. I think we’ll have plenty to say to each other when we speak, almost in person, but we want to make sure we’re hitting the topics that are of special interest to you.

By May 19th, please give us your input. You can leave it in a comment, on our blogs, on Facebook, or Instagram. Anna has a comment form under “contact me” on her website. You can email me a lois@polishhousewife.com. We will stream our video conversation on Tuesday, May 26th, right after Memorial Day in the USA.

Pozdrawiam,

Lois

My friend made pierogis for Easter. We are baffled at what happened. She made the dough and filled it with potatoes. Boiled them, stored them in a plastic container. Two days later when she went to cook them, she noticed that everywhere the dough touched the potato, it was speckled with black. Looked like mold. What could this have been?? All fresh ingredients. Nothing looked wrong before that. The black speckles remain after cooking and she had to throw them out.

I’m sorry to hear that, Melissa. I haven’t run into that before, but better safe than sorry.
