Hot Weekend

July 28, 2013 by Lois Britton 2 Comments

We were crazy yesterday.  The high temperature was 91, and we waited until the afternoon to head out on our bikes.  We did 20 miles and I was dying by the time it was over.  We drank the 2250 ml of water that we took with us and stopped at a store to buy more, but the good news is that we tried out some new routes, and came across a wild boar having a scratch along a familiar bit of bike path.   We ride this route often, but this was our first wildlife sighting.  What makes it so surprising is that this is just north of Rondo Srodka (a very busy intersection), along highway 92.  There is a screen between the road and the bike path at this point.  We watched him scratch his back for a few minutes, and then he waddled off into the brush.  The way the branches were swaying about as we went by, it looked like he was still scratching.  I guess we’re not the only ones bothered by all the mosquitoes lately.

Today, we only rode 10 miles and got them in early.  Good thing because it’s 100 today.  I think this afternoon will be spent in the air conditioned comfort of a movie theater.  It may even call for a double feature.

PS – this was post #200; I wish my topic had been grander than whinning about the weather!  We saw Jeździec Znikąd (a phrase I find unpronouncable; there are so many different sounds for z and they give me trouble) or The Lone Ranger.  I now see that the first word in Polish appears that it could a verzion of the number 1 (there are, I think, 17 ways to use the number 1), which would make sense.  The film was over two hours in length and I didn’t get fidgity, so that’s always a good sign.  We enjoyed it.

Pretty exciting, seeing the wild boar. And maybe for the first time ever, it's going to be hotter today in Poznan than Tucson.

tralf – I'm glad you're getting a break. Your summer is much longer than ours. This will probably only last for a couple of weeks. Then it will be pleasant again.
