Tonight was my turn to host Dinner for 8 with a group of friends from church. It was great motivation to decorate for Christmas, and a chance to spend the evening with very nice people. The Dinner for 8 meals are potluck, which I must admit was a little unsettling for me the first time I hosted. It felt strange not to be planning all of the menu details. Hmmm. . . too controlling. . . perhaps? I have now come appreciate and enjoy the simplicity of just preparing one dish for the evening.
Our menu tonight consisted of:
Shrimp wonton appetizers ~ sodas, beer, pomegranate martinis
Green salad ~ water, wines (two whites & a red)
Cassoulet & a rustic bread with garlic-paprika butter
Brownie sundaes ~ Decaf coffee
Thanks to everyone for your delicious contributions and your company!

Let me assure you, the candle flames are further away from other items than they appear. My friend the fire captain would not be concerned.

Looks pretty good. Since it’s morning in Poland I think I’ll find some soup and paprika butter for lunch! Noce job, Hon!

That looks beautiful! And the food sounds good, too.
