Here we are on our way to the concert – this is in front of the Opera House |
We’ve done a lot of things that I haven’t found time to blog about. We attended the local symphony, Filharmonia Posnanska for the second time. (Very different from our concert in Lodz.)
It was kind of a backwards evening. We began with apple pie in the venue coffee shop before the concert. (Soup after the concert at The Dubliner.)
The Filharmonia performs in a beautiful music hall, always excellent music. There were several members of the audience that were a little over eager with their applause – breaking in between movements multiple times. A woman sitting near us seemed to be leading this ill-timed charge. She was mesmarized, leaning forward in her chair, so eager to break into applause. As the parent of a musician, I suspect that she may have had a grandchild playing with the orchestra, perhaps for the first time.
When Ed first began to consider taking a job in Poznan, we found a blog by an American couple from Chicago who retired here. (They’re listed in my blog roll of other Americans in Poland). I met them recently and had a nice visit. It was great to learn from their experience. They’ve been here five years.
