This is actually the second recipe I’ve baked with the ABC group from The Weekend Baker; it is the first one, however, that I’ve gotten around to writing about.
Cinnamon rolls baked, photographed, eaten, but not blogged about. Sure, I’ve been busy, but I guess I was having trouble deciding what to say about them. They were good. I love cinnamon rolls, but they weren’t noticeably different than the ones I been making for the last twenty years. I know the author is a pastry chef, but I was starting to worry that I wasn’t going to learn anything new with this book.
I should not be so quick to judge. Then came the frosting that accompanies these cupcakes – so different, such surprising ingredients, SO GOOD! The frosting was easy to make, and I’ve never seen such a smooth, fudge-y texture. The frosting recipe alone was worth the price of the cookbook! I used the leftovers to do some detailed piping on this cake. Very smooth to work with.
Unlike most of my blog posts, the ABC group does not post recipes, however, many are available on the author’s website.

Your cupcakes look great! I’ve been thinking of subbing the frosting with a different one like chocolate ganache but after reading your post on how much you like the frosting, I think I may just have to make this as well!

Your picture looks just like the one in the book!! I’m glad you liked them. Now you have me interested in making the frosting recipe for these. I’m sure I can come up with an occasion to make these cupcakes again.

Looks yummy!

I missed the cinnamon rolls (too busy when it was time) but loved the first recipe (the banana cake). These were really good too, though I really wasn’t a fan of the frosting. Yours look terrific!

Now I wish I had tried that frosting! Will keep it in mind though since you are so enthusiastic about it.
