Funkin’ Stylez

October 30, 2011 by Lois Britton Leave a Comment

There is always something happening at Stary Browar (Old Brewery) shopping mall; they just wrapped up fashion week activities.  Now, they’ve moved on to dance.  We stopped by last night to buy coffee beans at Starbucks on our way to dinner at our friends’ nearby apartment.  The music coming from  the atrium wasn’t your normal mall music, so we had to take a look.

After free workshops earlier in the weekend in Hip-Hop, Popping, and Vogueing, we saw part of the 2011 Polish Qualifying for the December Funkin’ Stylez World Team Battle in Dusseldorf, Germany.

I got a kick out of the FAQs.  Is there an entry fee?  Are there dressing rooms?  Can my family and friends attend?  Can I bring my knife?  Can I smoke a joint at the event?  In case your wondering, the answer to the last one is no.

I really wish someone would have spelled things out so thoroughly for us when I took my daughters to an outdoor concert in Tempe, near Arizona State University.  They were in high school and really wanted to see the band, Garbage.  The event’s FAQs might have  included, “Is is OK is I smuggle mini bottles of booze into the venue by sticking them in my socks?”  The college kids standing next to us needed that one.
