Call Me Crazy!

January 9, 2010 by Lois Britton 1 Comment

It’s only been a few days since I blogged about the cake baking challenge I was beginning.  Let’s call that the Yin.  That would make the challenge accepted yesterday the Yang.  I’ve been following Molly B’s blog, I’m a Sleeper Baker, for a while – interesting writing about cooking, family life and activities.  I noticed that Molly has taken on the challenge issued by Mel on her blog, Tall Mom on the Run, to log 1,000+++ miles in 2010.  Mel has already done 1,000+ in 2009 and plans to do 1,333+++ this year!  Molly seems like an active gal, and I’m sure that she’ll meet this goal.

I started wondering if I could do this too – walking not running; it will take more time.  My bean-counting brain quickly told me that this is less than 3 miles a day.  It’s doable but would be a HUGE change in my behavior.   That would mean that I couldn’t hit the snooze button in the morning and make excuses about how I’ll get on the elliptical later in the day.  That would mean that I couldn’t find reasons not to walk the dog after work.  I’ve already received an encouraging email from Mel (Tall Mom), and on my first day have put in 3 miles.  I’ll update you at the end of the first quarter.
