1,000+++ Update

April 8, 2010 by Lois Britton 2 Comments

When I accepted Tall Mom’s 1,000+++ Challenge at the beginning of the year, I promised to update you at the end of the first quarter.  That makes you, gentle reader, my accountability partner.  As of today, I’m at 253 miles walked in 2010.  I’m a week behind schedule, but it’s still very doable, which almost surprises me!

    How have you done this-daily, weekly? Set miles each time out? How long does it take? I took a Nordic Walking class and bought poles but have yet to get myself out the door. You can watch it here if you want. Adds more muscle workout during a walk plus it’s kinda fun.

    Oh, Vicki, we are kindred spirits. My husband gave me Nordic walking sticks for Christmas. At first I felt a little awkward with them, but I really miss them on the rare occasions I walk without them now.

    I try to average 3 miles a day, but sometimes I skip a day and just do a longer walk on the weekend to catch up.

    I’ve measured routes in my neighborhood on mapmyrun.com (it’s free) and now on my smartphone (hubby’s hand-me-down). Sometimes I divide the 3 miles into 2 walks, but usually I do 3 or 4 miles.

    It’s not bad once I get started, but you are totally right, the hard part is getting out the door!

    What about setting a goal of 60 miles in the next 30 days. You can do it my friend.
